Trip 2013 King City, Pacifica (San Francisco), Yreka CA, Salem OR and Peshastin WA

Well 4550 miles,  $ 2144.57 in fuel and six weeks from 11 May to 24 June is a long trip and we haven't killed one another YET! But we have another 6000 miles to go!  After leaving Ventura, CA we headed north to King City, CA on the way to Pacifica, CA.  There were many grape fields and I would guess that they stretched for more than 200 miles, which means that each bottle of wine sold in California should be $ 1.00 because there were that many grape fields that stretched for more than 100 miles.  Prior to getting to Pacifica we passed by Camp Roberts which was a training area for the Army in the 1940's and a large number of oil wells in a town that I didn't get the name of.  We are heading to Pacifica, located right on the beach and only 20 minutes from San Francisco, of course we had to go to see the city again.  After getting off the I-5 we ran into a small problem, a road called Manor Drive, but it wasn't just a down hill, it was a 19%  grade downhill to get to the campground, great for the brakes on the motorhome, hot hot!  After getting set up we went to dinner near the campground.  The next day was a real surprise, learning how to negotiate BART system and then the trollies, but we overcame and got around.  Our traveling companions, Bruce and Maretta decided to stay and wait for her brother that lives near by.  So we set out on our own so the first stop was to go to Alcatraz, but after getting to the dock, where we could purchase tickets, we found out that the next available date was 7 July, oh well just got some pictures of the island.   We finally settled on a bus tour of the city, to include the Golden Gate Bridge, the Golden Gate Park, Haight Ashbury, Civic Center, Union Square, Chinatown and back to the start point at Fisherman's Wharf.  It was a great tour and we would take it again.  of course there's pictures.  After leaving Pacifica we headed to Yreka,CA  along the way we saw sunflower fields, olive trees, Mt Hood and Shasta Lake, with the most blue waters that I have ever seen.   We spent the night on the way to Salem,OR and then the final stop for this leg of the trip, Peshastin WA at the Smithson Ranch where we will rest for about a week and a half before starting the final leg of the trip back to North Carolina.
