New Orleans the Walking Tour

Today we went on a walking Tour of the city of New Orleans.  The day started with a FREE  ride from Algires to New Orleans, once arriving in New Orleans we walked to the meeting point next to the Nantchez Paddel Boat.  Our guide told us about the history of New Orleans and then we saw the sites, Cafe de Monde,  decorated carriage tours, the French Quarter's houses and balconies with sweeping fan-lights, court yards and the historic St Louis Cathedral.  One of the most impressive sites was the Cabildo where the Louisiana Purchase transfer agreement, deeding the vast territories from France to the US was signed, the room where this happened is still arranged as it was when the signing took place.  This building also served  as a city hall, a courthouse, a prison and since 1911, the home of the Louisiana State Museum.  We had a snack of beignets and coffee and then we had  lunch at Jackson Brewery Bistro Bar.  Pictures to follow below.
